Abstract

Attention deficits exhibited by many school-aged children affect various aspects of their lives, including the overall functioning of their families. Parents of children with attention deficits/ADHD experience higher levels of stress and lower levels of perceived parental efficacy compared to parents of neurotypically developing children. Therefore, it is particularly important to develop intervention programs to support children with ADHD and their parents, who face numerous challenges in daily life. The "Child ViReal Support Program" is a multimodal intervention program for children aged 9-12 with ADHD and their parents. It consists of a parent psychoeducation program and an individualized child training program. The parent psychoeducation program comprises eight weekly group sessions, in which parents are trained in behavior modification techniques, optimal parenting practices, techniques and strategies to enhance their children's executive functions, as well as stress management techniques. The effectiveness of the "Child ViReal Support Program" was evaluated through a randomized controlled trial (RCT) with a crossover design involving 16 families. In the oral presentation, the parent psychoeducation program was specifically presented, and important findings for the parents, as revealed by the research study, were discussed.
